About Me

 

I'm a  34-year-old, Michigan-born, "Harvard-trained" family physician living, working and loving in the Pacific Northwest. Romantic love may have anchored me here, but the love of full-spectrum family medicine and the desire to provide care for the underserved brought me here initially. I began my career serving a majority African-American population while being a bilingual doc to a large monolingual Spanish-speaking population, and it gave me life! I am now faculty at a residency program that is based in a clinic that serves a very similar population, having a more integral role in the education of the next iteration of community-based family docs.  Professionally, my interests include integrative and functional medicine, public health, particularly social epidemiology, maternal-child health, minority and immigrant health and program planning. In practice, my interests include maternity care, developmental pediatrics, women's health and procedures. Personally, I love jazz singing, language learning, creative writing, Afro-Brazilian everything, but mostly dance, and learning to draw on the right side of my brain. I'm wife to a wonderfully non-medical husband, mother to an active toddler boy, a new cooking aficionada, and a hibernating distance runner.
